Mason Autism Support Initiative (MASI) at GMU
Navigating college is a daunting and often-time nerve wracking experience for many students. For those on the autism spectrum, attending university can be even more intimidating. George Mason University’s MASI program provides additional and comprehensive services to help students with autism make the most of their college experience.
What is it? MASI uses a team-based approach to provide each student with an individualized support plan. Students have access to:
Peer Mentor (undergraduate student)
Learning Strategist (graduate student or professional)
Skill-building Classes - each semester, students take ½ credit individualized UNIV courses that focus on topics related to the transition into college, campus resources, social skills, identity development, and career readiness with an emphasis on independence.
